Binding papers without a clip
Some time ago while browsing lifehacker I stumbled upon a wonderful technique of binding papers together without the much dreaded paper clip. Somehow I’ve managed to stay uninformed for so long, but it seems this technique has been used way before the paper clip went mainstream. Click the read more link for detailed instructions.
For this example I’ll be using a stack of six pieces of HP print paper. [8.5in by 11in]
Step one - Take your stack of papers, usually no more than fifteen pieces of paper [although I’ve heard of people doing in the area of about twenty]. Now fold the top left edge of the paper down.
Step two - After you’ve folded the corner down you will cut two lines. Then you’ll take the “tab” that you’ve cut and fold it down towards the corner. The image explains it much better.
Step three - Taking the small tab in your fingers apply downward force to open the tab up.
Step four - Press down again on the tab and fold half over on each side of the paper, this will keep the tab from moving and the papers from falling apart.
Update May 6th 2008 - Managed to find one of the original online publishers guide. You can view it over at her website titled Bloomize.
